Calculating Acreage from Square Footage

How do I calculate the acreage for a property by using the sq. footage?

First, calculate the size of the lot. The image below shows the dimentions of a lot. In order to compute the acreage, you first have to calculate the total square footage of the lot.

sq_ft

In this example, 50 x 118 = 5900 total square feet.

Next, divide the total square feet by 43,560 to convert to acres. In this example, 5900 divided by 43,560 results in lot acreage of .135 acres.
